Responsibilities

• Complete grade 12 or equivalent
• Certified as an assistant cook, Branch 1, under Regulation 1049
• Completed Food Service Worker Program from a recognized college or private career college in Ontario
• Valid Food Safety Awareness Certification
• Experience preparing large quantities of food, preferably in healthcare or long-term care settings
• Ability to plan menus, prepare, and present food creatively
• Knowledge of Ontario Food Premises Regulations and Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating
• Understanding of special and therapeutic diets, including texture modifications
• Ability to work accurately, quickly, and safely
• Ability to adjust recipe quantities to meet the needs of the Village

Preferred Assets

• Leadership qualities and ability to lead in the absence of senior staff
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Effective team player with experience working with seniors
