Nova Scotia Health Authority in Inverness is seeking a Red Seal Cook to join the Nutrition & Food Services team. The role involves preparing meals for patients and for cafeteria/catering services, following standardized recipes and maintaining high sanitation standards.

Under supervision, you will contribute to menu planning and work as part of a team to ensure quality and safety in a hospital setting. 75 hours biweekly, permanent full-time, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Formación

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Red Seal certification required
• Serv Safe Advanced course required
• Previous hospital cooking experience preferred
• Ability to meet physical demands (lifting, bending, walking, standing)
• French language skills considered an asset

About the Opportunity

Under the supervision of the Nutrition & Food Service supervisor and manager of Nutrition and Food Services, the Red Seal Cook independently, and within a team, prepares meals using standardized quantity recipes for patient food services operations, as well as for clientele for the cafeteria/catering/retail services. The Red Seal Cook, in collaboration with the other cooking staff, is also responsible for menu planning and maintaining a high standard of sanitation and safety in an institutional food service operation.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Grade 12 or equivalentrequired
• Red Seal cooking certificationrequired
• Serv Safe Advanced course required
• Previous cooking experience in hospital setting preferred
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position (lifting, bending, walking, standing)
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits

$25.24 - $28.22 Hourly
