Job Opportunity: Cook

RhynoCare Staffing is seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our culinary team in partnered long-term care facilities. This role is vital in ensuring residents' nutritional needs are met with delicious, wholesome meals, working collaboratively with dietary staff to plan menus, prepare meals, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment.

Responsibilities
  1. Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and menu plans, ensuring all standards are met.
  2. Serve meals at appropriate temperatures and times.
  3. Assist with serving meals to residents, respecting their food preferences.
  4. Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper food storage and handling.
  5. Collaborate with dietary staff to develop menus that meet residents' nutritional needs and preferences.
  6. Assist in controlling food costs, waste, and managing orders.
  7. Monitor food inventory and coordinate supply orders.
  8. Ensure compliance with Public Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care requirements.
  9. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including equipment and utensils.
  10. Support with special events and catering as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act standards.
  • Chef/Cook Certification from a recognized community college, preferably Red Seal.
  • Valid Food Handler's Certificate, kept up to date.
  • Experience in a Long-Term Care setting or with seniors preferred; experience in institutional, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality cooking accepted.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 6 months.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination per Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care policy.

  • Ability to handle physical aspects of the job, including bending, standing, lifting, working in various temperatures, and safe work practices.
  • Ability to multitask and complete routines within schedules.
