The Opportunity:

The Cook works as part of the team in food and nutrition services performing tasks such as ordering, receiving, cooking, and presenting meals for residents, families, and staff as appropriate and directed. This position is required to follow all proper food handling procedures, standards of recipes and portion control, and maintain high quality of food and cleanliness of equipment and work-related areas.

What You Will Do:
  • Prepares food items in a timely fashion following production time schedules, prescribed recipes, portions, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Participates in meal service as required.
  • Prepares regular and modified foods as directed to meet resident diet modifications and recipe compliance.
  • Prepares food and supply orders.
  • Assists with receiving and proper storage.
  • May be required to assist with menu development.
What You Will Need:
  • High School Graduate or equivalent is preferred.
  • Professional Cooking Certificate Preferred.
  • Food Safe Level 1 Certificate Required.
  • Provincial or other vocational or professional certification or degree an asset.
  • Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.
  • 2 years of experience as a Cook in a Healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with ovens, steamers, meat slicer, deep fryer, tilt fryer, soup kettle, VCM, robot coupe, blender, mixer.
