Job summary

Ocean View Continuing Care Centre in Eastern Passage, NS is seeking a Cook to prepare and serve meals per the centre's menu. The role emphasizes safety and sanitation in all cooking and cleaning activities, with opportunities to contribute to menu planning and catering as needed.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma, a one-year community college quantity cooking course, HACCP and WHMIS knowledge, and a track record of reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• Grade Twelve (12) or equivalent.
• One year community college quantity cooking course.
• National Sanitation Program including HACCP knowledge.
• WHMIS knowledge.
• Experience in maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment.
• Regular and consistent attendance.
• Knowledge of dietary requirements of geriatric residents.

SCOPE OF POSITION

The Cook isresponsible for food preparation and service of meals in accordance with themenu. Maintains high standard of safety and sanitation in cleaning of equipmentand work areas. Provides staff training, guidance, and supervises as required.Assists in planning menus and prepares caterings as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade Twelve (12) required or equivalent.
• Completion of one (1) year community college quantity cooking course.
• Recent completion of National Sanitation Program including workingknowledge and experience in HACCP procedures.
• Working knowledge of WHMIS legislation.
• Experience working in maintaining a safe & sanitary workenvironment.
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
• Knowledge of therapeutic and familiar with dietary requirements ofgeriatric resident
• Ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis

SalaryRange:
