Overview

Are you customer-service-oriented with a strong work ethic? Do you thrive in a busy kitchen and love keeping it organized? If so, join us as our new Staff Cook. This is a permanent, full-time position with open availability Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

The Cafeteria Attendant is responsible for maintaining service of the cafeteria food in a customer service oriented manner. The role will organize and set up the equipment and workstation within the cafeteria and prep kitchen, while following FoodSafe regulations. The Cafeteria Attendant will work diligently to maintain the cafeteria and prep kitchen in a clean and sanitary manner according to established expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Cook in all areas – hot line, sandwich & salad station, buffet, and plated service
  • Prepare daily rotating menus and ensure every dish is fresh, and of the highest quality
  • Meet strict production timelines while maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
  • Set up cafeteria and prep-kitchen equipment and workstations each shift
  • Maintain top-tier cleanliness: keep prep and service areas spotless, sanitize surfaces, and follow all established FoodSafe procedures
  • Store, label, and rotate food properly to maximize freshness and adhere to Food Premises regulations
  • Provide friendly and efficient customer service to coworkers in the cafeteria
  • Monitor food and equipment temperatures at all times
  • Receive, stock and rotate incoming and outgoing inventory
  • Adhere to established schedule for meal times
  • Assist wherever needed
  • Complete weekly food related inventory, submit to manager
  • Prepare snack and fruit baskets
Qualifications
  • 2–4 years in catering or high-volume restaurants, including buffet and plated service
  • Strong grasp of basic techniques; broad menu knowledge
  • Lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive bending/squatting
  • Food Premises regulations, FoodSafe certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Clear communicator, proactive team player, hospitality-focused, problem solver
  • Working knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing foods on a large scale
  • Ability to use and care for food preparation equipment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and coworkers
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service skills
