Job description

Under the supervision of the Chef, the Cook will be responsible for the overall production, preparation, and presentation of food items to be served.

YOUR ROLE

  • Cook and prepare necessary food items as directed, adhering to Health and Safety standards, in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Have strong knowledge of food terminology, cooking/preparation methods, and general food handling.
  • Follow standardized recipes and specifications to maintain consistency and meet all standards.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized work station, following proper operating procedures.
  • Have full knowledge of all menu items, daily features, and promotions.
  • Operate all kitchen equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Handle, store, prepare, and serve food products safely, complying with hotel and government Food Safety guidelines.
  • Report any deficiencies in kitchen equipment or food quality.
  • Maintain food quality and minimize wastage during preparation.
  • Follow all safety regulations and ensure a clean, safe working environment.
  • Adhere to environmental policies and programs as required.
  • Perform various other tasks as assigned by the Chef.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Experience in a full-service restaurant or hotel.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and multitask.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions on the fly, and show initiative.
  • Capable of performing well under pressure.
  • Ability to lift/carry/push supplies or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for up to 8 hours.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication.
  • Experience in multiple hotel kitchen departments is an asset.
  • Must possess a Certified Food Handlers certificate and a degree/diploma in culinary skills.
