Job summary

Blood Tribe Department of Health, Inc. is seeking a Cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents under the supervision of the Nutrition Supervisor. You will follow therapeutic diet guidelines and texture-modified food restrictions to ensure safety and quality in every meal.

The role requires 1–3 years in healthcare cooking, Grade 12 or culinary training, and mandatory food safety certification. Red Seal is highly preferred, with emphasis on understanding Blackfoot culture and language.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years cooking in a healthcare facility or related setting.
  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or Culinary Arts program graduate; Red Seal preferred.
  • Food Safety Handling is Mandatory; CPR, First Aid, WHMIS maintained.

REPORTS TO: Nutrition Supervisor

SUMMARY OF WORK:

Under the direct supervision of the Nutrition Supervisor, the Cook prepares a variety of nutritious meals, including traditional foods, while strictly adhering to customized therapeutic diets and texture-modified food restrictions. Your precision directly impacts the Health and Safety of our Residents.

PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALITIES:
  • Experience: 1 – 3 years of cooking experience in a healthcare facility (hospital, retirement home, or long-term care setting), restaurant, or day care.
  • Education: Minimum Grade 12 Diploma and/or Graduate of recognized Culinary Skills program, Chef training, Culinary Arts Diploma. A Red Seal Designation is highly preferred.
  • Certification:
    Food Safety Handling Is Mandatory
    Maintain CPR, First aid, WHMIS
  • Understanding of the Blackfoot Culture and Language
SALARY RANGE:
  • In accordance with Blood Tribe Department of Health Inc. salary grid.
