Job summary

Dexterra Signature Dining is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our culinary team in a fast-paced kitchen. The role focuses on delivering high-quality meals while upholding the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities include preparing ingredients, cooking menu items with commercial equipment, and maintaining inventory and sanitation standards. A strong team player with 1–3 years of kitchen experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen.
  • Valid Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques including grilling, baking, sautéing, and knife skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients by inspecting, washing, peeling, cutting, and measuring according to recipes.
  • Cook menu items using a variety of commercial kitchen equipment (grills, ovens, fryers, etc.).
  • Ensure all food is prepared, portioned, plated, and served to quality standards.
  • Maintain food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures in a clean environment.
  • Receive, label, store, and rotate inventory using FIFO practices.

WHAT'S THE JOB?

As a Cook, you will play an integral role in delivering an exceptional dining experience by preparing and serving high-quality meals while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients by inspecting, washing, peeling, cutting, and measuring food items according to standardized recipes.
  • Prepare and cook menu items using a variety of commercial kitchen equipment, including grills, ovens, fryers, and other cooking appliances.
  • Ensure all food is prepared, portioned, presented, and served in accordance with Dexterra Signature Dining's quality standards.
  • Maintain strict compliance with food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures, ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
  • Clean and sanitize workstations, kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas.
  • Monitor refrigeration and food temperature logs, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and consistently.
  • Properly receive, label, store, and rotate inventory using First In, First Out (FIFO) practices while reporting inventory shortages or product concerns.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of kitchen equipment.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by interacting with clients in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner.
  • Support the culinary team with additional duties and operational requirements as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • 1–3 years of experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen environment.
  • Valid Food Handler Certification or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, including grilling, baking, sautéing, and knife skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Reliable transportation, as scheduled shifts may begin as early as 6:00 a.m.
