Job Description: Cook

The Cook is responsible for preparing cooked foods and must be able to perform all station functions, including Fry, Flat Top Griddle, Pantry, and Egg stations. The role involves communicating ticket times and potential problems to the manager on duty and servers, providing high-quality service, and performing other duties as directed by management. This is a non-exempt position.

Essential Functions:
  1. Follow recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving food items such as soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other products.
  2. Taste products, follow menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to plan production and requisition supplies.
  3. Clean and sanitize work stations and equipment.
  4. Practice excellent food safety and sanitation practices, complying with HACCP standards.
  5. Operate various kitchen equipment; measure and mix ingredients; wash, peel, cut, and shred fruits and vegetables.
  6. Stock, date, rotate, and check the temperature of products.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
  • Food preparation skills and knowledge of HACCP standards.
  • At least 1 year of related cooking experience; experience in high-volume and casual dining preferred.
  • Knowledge of soups, sauté, broiler, fry, and pantry stations.
  • Ability to read, understand instructions, and communicate effectively with customers.
  • Physical ability to lift/move up to 40 pounds, bend, twist, and stand for long periods.
  • Frequent immersion of hands in water and chemical solutions.
  • Regular use of sharp knives, utensils, and hot equipment.
  • Work in hot environments regularly.
