Job Title: Cook

Location: Kingston, ON

Shifts: 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. | 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Wage: $24.30/hour

Pay Schedule: Weekly

Are you a passionate and experienced cook looking to make a meaningful impact? Our client, a respected long-term care facility in Kingston, is seeking a dedicated Cook to join their team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in food preparation, a commitment to safety and hygiene, and a desire to contribute to the health and well-being of residents.

As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals in accordance with the Long-Term Care Homes Act and dietary standards. You'll play a vital role in ensuring residents receive high-quality, properly prepared meals tailored to their needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve meals in accordance with dietary needs, including therapeutic and mechanically altered diets
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and dietary equipment
  • Support safe food handling practices and infection control standards
  • Embrace and apply the Gentle Care philosophy
  • Remain active and mobile throughout the shift, including extended periods of walking

Qualifications:

  • Red Seal Certification, or a Culinary Management diploma/certificate from a recognized institution
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a dietary or institutional kitchen setting
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • High school diploma (proof required)
  • Valid TB test (within the last year)
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (within the last 6 months)
  • A strong work ethic and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to resident-centered care and service
