Job Description: Cook 1

The Cook 1 will accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods, including Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities. These responsibilities may differ among accounts depending on business needs and client requirements.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of basic equipment operation and cash handling procedures preferred.
Certifications and Skills:
  • Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Professional appearance and conduct, honesty, and ethics.
  • Positive attitude and effective communication with coworkers and other departments.
  • Respectful and professional relationships with coworkers, vendors, supervisors, managers, customers, and clients.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Good knowledge of food preparation and familiarity with kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes independently.
  • Willingness to learn and grow.
  • Maturity in judgment and behavior.
  • High standards for work areas and appearance, including compliance with dress code.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Compliance with Sodexo time and attendance policies and client operating hours.
Physical Requirements:
  • Close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to stand for long periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 35 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 50 pounds, possibly with mechanical aids.
  • Participation in outdoor activities and events may be required.
Work Environment:
  • Varying schedule including evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
  • Potential exposure to warm/hot environments and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels.
