Responsibilities
  • Interpret production orders, including part descriptions, material grades, documents, and drawings.
  • Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to operate conversational machines responsibly and efficiently. Sign off on production orders as required.
  • Understand the sequence of operations for each production order.
  • Program conversational machines to meet customer specifications based on work order instructions.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor conversational machines; adjust programs during production as needed. Use measuring tools and gauges.
  • Manufacture routine, complex, and non-routine parts from raw materials.
  • Safely maneuver raw materials and finished products using overhead cranes and pallet jacks. Report any concerns to the Plant Supervisor.
  • Complete work orders within deadlines, plan and prioritize workload, and collaborate with the Plant Supervisor to resolve issues.
  • Maintain the conversational machine area and equipment daily, reporting concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Document completed work and route products and documentation appropriately.
  • Record time, switch codes, scan router operations, and enter product quantities and material consumption.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of conversational machining experience.
  • High School Diploma required; Red Seal Journeyman Machinist is an asset.
  • Experience with live tooling machines is an asset.
  • Knowledge of products and services related to the oil and gas industry.
  • Understanding of safe work practices, Quality Assurance, and Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing).
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Shop floor environment with extended standing and working with products.
  • Mandatory use of personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs without mechanical assistance.
