Conversation Lab Assistant - Japanese (On-Call)

$26.86 per hour (with wage increments to a max of $29.53 per hour). Salary and wage increments are in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

    • speak Japanese fluently
    • initiate and conduct conversations in Japanese and encourage the participation of students.
    • follow the course materials as provided.
    • produce and maintain accurate documentation.
    • organize workflow to ensure that deadlines are met while working with considerable independence.
    • establish and maintain effective working relationships.
    • provide efficient, client-centred service in person, in writing, and over the telephone with the College community and outside agencies.
This temporary, on-call position is available starting September 2, 2025. The position is located at both the New Westminster campus and at the Coquitlam campus. Hours of work are generally between 8:30 AM and 8 PM, and shifts may be scheduled Monday to Friday as per the lab schedules set each semester. Scheduled hours range between 4 hours to 7 hours per day, depending on the assignment. The number of hours per semester differ based on course offerings and demand. Shift days and times may change depending on the Department’s need. Occasional evening and/or weekend work and overtime may be required. For the Fall 2025 semester, the schedule is Thursdays from 12:30-4:30pm.
