Assignment: Permanent

Hours of work: 40 hrs per week

Salary: Step 1: $46.74 Step 2*: $49.68

  • After the 90-day work probation period

Your Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, maintain, inspect, test and troubleshoot a variety of electrical systems and equipment (such as Programmable Logic Controllers, Variable Speed Drives, Soft Starters, relay logic systems, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, navigation systems, fire protection systems, security systems, microwave systems, breakers, wiring, transformers and circuitry).
  • Compile test data for and produce technical reports on various control systems, power systems and communication systems.
  • Perform work in accordance with applicable Electrical codes and/or Engineering/Technical specifications.
  • Maintain electrical equipment, according to the preventive maintenance program.
  • Respond efficiently and effectively to electrical service calls.

Your profile

  • College Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Technology
  • Ontario Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician (309-A Construction and Maintenance OR 442-A Industrial Electrician)
  • Between three (3) to five (5) years related practical technical experience
  • Eligible for certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists
  • Valid Class G (ON) driver's license and insurable driving record
  • Fully autonomous skills in all aspects of Programmable Logic Controllers, motor drives, field devices, generators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, and Remote and Operator Controlled Navigation Systems.
  • Skilled in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all electrical equipment below 750V.
  • Knowledge of applicable procedures, rules, regulations, standards and safe work practices with respect to performing duties.
  • Eligibility for Marine Transportation Security Clearance.
  • Availability to undergo medical test, functional abilities evaluation and drugs test.
  • Ability to work at height, depth, near open water and/or confined spaces.
