Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a field service technician in the Greater Toronto Area. You will perform system commissioning using Johnson Controls tools, troubleshoot basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control problems, and respond to basic warranty calls.

You will load controller software, perform diagnostics from controllers to sensors and actuators, and document changes for as‑built records. Safety training and on-site communication are essential parts of the role.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated technical aptitude.
  • Able to use hand tools (screwdrivers, wrenches, wire strippers).
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and listening skills.
  • Willing to travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area, with occasional out-of-town travel as required.
  • Valid Full G Driver’s License with good driving record.
  • Two years experience in installing electronic and/or mechanical systems (preferred).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC systems (preferred).

What You Will Do
  • Performs assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control problems
  • Responds to basic warranty calls.
How You Will Do It
  • Loads system‑level controller software. Performs basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system‑level controllers to end devices (i.e., sensors, actuators, etc.) and completes all required commissioning documentation
  • Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues
  • Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment
  • Completes administrative tasks including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on‑site documentation
  • Documents changes and provides information for as‑built documentation
  • Communicates with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site
  • Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $24.10-33.32 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
