Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC commissioning technician to perform system commissioning using Johnson Controls tools and to troubleshoot basic HVAC systems on customer sites. You will load software, run diagnostics, document outcomes, and communicate progress with customers and contractors.

The role emphasizes adherence to safety standards, basic calibration, and preparing accurate on-site documentation while collaborating with a diverse team.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field or at least three to five years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools.
• Troubleshoot basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.
• Respond to basic warranty calls.
• Load system-level controller software.
• Perform diagnostics from controllers to end devices and finalize commissioning docs.
• Keep stakeholders informed of job progress and issues.
• Calibrate systems using basic electronic test equipment.
• Complete on-site administrative tasks and documentation.
• Document changes for as-built records.
• Communicate arrival and departure with customers and contractors.
• Follow safety standards and attend safety training.

What You Will Do

Performs assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools. Troubleshoots and resolves basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems. Responds to basic warranty calls.

How You Will Do It

• Loads system-level controller software.
• Performs more sophisticated commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e., sensors, actuators, etc.) and finishes the required commissioning documentation.
• Keeps management and JCI contractor or customer advised of job progress and issues.
• Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment.
• Completes administrative tasks including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.
• Documents changes and provides information for as built documentation.
• Communicates with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
• Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.

What we look for

• Two-year degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field or at least three to five years of industry experience or experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
• Generally required knowledge includes HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques
• Effective interpersonal skills to accurately represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
• Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people. Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical Building Automation equipment on a job site.
• PC experience required
• The ability to program HVAC related software after completing the required training

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26.6-$36.41 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
