Job summary

Stoakley-Stewart Consultants Ltd. in Mississauga, ON seeks a hands-on Controller / Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations in a manufacturing setting.

You will manage AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger, produce monthly/quarterly/annual statements, and lead budgeting with variance analysis. You will also oversee inventory costing, standard costing, and CapEx projects, while ensuring tax compliance and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA) is strongly preferred.
• 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and hands-on ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, Syspro, or Plex).
• Deep understanding of product costing, inventory management, and Canadian accounting standards.
• Strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills to collaborate with non-financial plant staff, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger reconciliation.
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and provide regular variance analysis (budget vs. actual).
• Oversee corporate cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
• Maintain and improve the plant’s standard costing system.
• Oversee inventory valuation, including cycle counts, year-end audits, and scrap/obsolescence tracking.
• Analyze manufacturing variances (labour, material yield, overhead absorption) to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Partner with the plant manager to evaluate production efficiency and CapEx projects.
• Coordinate the year-end audit review process with external accountants.
• Maintain and strengthen internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets.

Position Description

• Maintain and strengthen internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets.
