The Role

Reporting to the VP, Finance and Accounting, this role oversees daily accounting operations, financial analysis, and reporting. It involves managing a team of accountants, ensuring accurate data, and providing insights for strategic decisions.

Roles and responsibilities :

  • Lead a motivated team that enjoys their work
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and financial statements in accordance with ASPE
  • Oversee accounts payable with a weekly payment cycle
  • Manage accounting systems including Acumatica, TrailD, and Dext
  • Review CRA correspondence & audits as needed
  • Assist with annual audits
  • Develop budgets and proformas with analysis and forecasting to identify savings and improvements
  • Present financial reports highlighting key insights and trends
  • Ensure compliance with standards, policies, and controls
  • Drive process improvements in accounting procedures and systems
  • Collaborate with development and construction teams to improve processes
  • Support ad-hoc projects related to accounting

Qualifications & Competencies :

  • CPA designation is required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience leading a team
  • Motivated to learn, especially about development and construction
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office and accounting software (experience with Acumatica is a plus)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

Additional requirements :

  • Satisfactory criminal and credit record check

Compensation Package :

  • Annual Salary: $95,000-$130,000 depending on experience
  • Annual Bonus: Approximately 28% of salary, based on company performance, with potential variation
  • Investment Opportunity: Employees can invest in projects with a 50% match by Highstreet, up to 20% of salary, TFSA and RRSP eligible
