Job summary

StandardAero in Winnipeg is seeking a seasoned accounting professional to lead GAAP-compliant financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls. You will partner with operations and executive teams to ensure accurate financials and timely reporting.

This role requires 5+ years in accounting within manufacturing environments, with a professional designation encouraged. Proficiency in Excel and Oracle, and experience with audits and public company reporting, are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing or related industry.
  • Active pursuit or holding a recognized designation (CA, CMA, CGA, or CPA).
  • Experience with public company reporting and internal audits.

  • Analyze accounting records to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Coordinate day-to-day financial operations, monthly reporting, and month-end close, including variances.

What you’ll do:
  • Ensure all financial reporting complies with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and reporting requirements.
  • Examining and analyzing accounting and financial records, documents, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures and internal controls.
  • Co-ordinate day to day financial operations, monthly reporting requirements and month-end close including reviewing and reporting significant operational/financial variances
  • Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations monthly ensuring processes, support and controls are maintained
  • Complete monthly forecasts and present to executive team
  • Lead the coordination and completion of the business annual operating plan
  • Review of monthly finance control panels consisting of sales, GM, SG&A and TWC variance analysis
  • Provide finance guidance to other functional departments in the business unit
  • Lead or participate in the audit preparation process by working with internal stakeholders for both internal and external audits.
  • Responsible for overseeing the completion and submission of rebates and credits to various vendors
  • Review of financial accuracy of contract bids
  • Lead/Participate in special projects
  • Actively participate in the maintenance of the control environment ensuring processes and procedures are followed as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of ad-hoc reporting and analysis
Position Requirements:
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within corporate manufacturing and public accounting
  • Holds or is actively pursuing a recognized professional accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, or CPA). Individuals with an equivalent mix of experience and education will also be considered
  • Experience with public company reporting and internal audit.
Preferred Characteristics:
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with Oracle are an asset
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and corporate SOX compliance an asset
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently multitasking and prioritizing responsibilities in order to meet deadlines
  • Team player who thrives in an ever-challenging environment
