Job summary

Recruiting In Motion - Eastern Ontario is seeking a senior Finance Leader to oversee accounting, finance, warehousing, and purchasing for a mine site in Northern Ontario, reporting directly to the Director of Operations, Canada.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in accounting or commerce, active CPA with CPA Ontario, US GAAP knowledge, 7–10 years in accounting, 5+ years in mining, and strong Excel and Dynamics 365 experience.

• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with 5+ years in mining
• Strong Excel and ERP experience, prefer Microsoft Dynamics 365

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Supervise accounting and finance functions for a mine site in Northern Ontario.
• Financial Reporting: Deliver monthly and quarterly financial information and management reports.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversee annual budget planning, monthly forecasting, and cost center reporting.
• Performance Analysis: Review monthly actuals vs budgets with operational staff and implement corrective actions.
• Capital & Expenditure Oversight: Support large expenditures in line with Delegation of Authority.
• Audit Coordination: Manage and coordinate all financial audit procedures.

About Our Client Our client is a prominent player in the natural resources sector, overseeing major industrial operations. They are seeking a financial leader to drive financial management, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency for one of their mine sites, and to support the corporate finance functions. This role offers a discreet and impactful opportunity to lead finance, purchasing, and warehousing teams while reporting directly to the Director of Operations, Canada.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Supervise all accounting and finance functions for a critical mine in Northern Ontario. Mentor, and guide the finance, warehousing, and purchasing teams to ensure cohesive cross-departmental operations.
• Financial Reporting: Deliver accurate, reliable, and complete monthly and quarterly financial information, providing management with timely reports on the current and anticipated state of the business.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversee the annual budget planning, monthly forecasting, interim estimates, fixed asset maintenance, and cost center reporting.
• Performance Analysis: Partner with key operational staff to systematically review monthly actual performance against budgets, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions for deviations.
• Capital & Expenditure Oversight: Support capital project and large expenditure approvals in strict accordance with the company's Delegation of Authority.
• Audit Coordination: Manage and coordinate all financial audit procedures in relation to the company's financial statements.

Qualifications

• Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or commerce, paired with an active CPA designation in good standing with CPA Ontario.
• Working Knowledge of US GAAP
• Industry Experience: 7 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 5 years specifically within the mining industry.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and extensive experience with ERP systems, with a strong preference for Microsoft Dynamics 365.
