Job description

Our client in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking a Controller to join their team.

Position Highlights:

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, fully onsite

Employment Type: Full-time, permanent

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee all aspects of the Finance Department's accounting activities including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Inventory/Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  2. Perform month-end closing and prepare consolidated financial statements for banking purposes.
  3. Analyze variances, communicate explanations to management, and recommend actions.
  4. Prepare rolling forecasts in collaboration with departmental managers.
  5. Collaborate across organizational levels to achieve corporate objectives.
  6. Lead, train, and develop staff within the team.
  7. Provide financial and operational insights to departmental leaders to inform business decisions.
  8. Work with Operations, accounting, analysts, and senior management to explain results, identify efficiencies, and lead complex analyses.
  9. Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure reporting accuracy, asset safeguarding, and risk management.
  10. Ensure accounting compliance with GAAP and local statutory requirements.
  11. Manage hedge strategies for foreign exchange.
  12. Prepare consolidated year-end financial statements for audits.
  13. Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation.
  14. Review weekly wires against invoices and approvals.
  15. Manage business insurance renewal files.
  16. Maintain product costing models supporting sales activities.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  2. CPA, CFA, or equivalent certification preferred.
