Our client in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking a Controller to join their team.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, fully onsite
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of the Finance Department's accounting activities including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Inventory/Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
- Perform month-end closing and prepare consolidated financial statements for banking purposes.
- Analyze variances, communicate explanations to management, and recommend actions.
- Prepare rolling forecasts in collaboration with departmental managers.
- Collaborate across organizational levels to achieve corporate objectives.
- Lead, train, and develop staff within the team.
- Provide financial and operational insights to departmental leaders to inform business decisions.
- Work with Operations, accounting, analysts, and senior management to explain results, identify efficiencies, and lead complex analyses.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure reporting accuracy, asset safeguarding, and risk management.
- Ensure accounting compliance with GAAP and local statutory requirements.
- Manage hedge strategies for foreign exchange.
- Prepare consolidated year-end financial statements for audits.
- Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation.
- Review weekly wires against invoices and approvals.
- Manage business insurance renewal files.
- Maintain product costing models supporting sales activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
- CPA, CFA, or equivalent certification preferred.
- 5-10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including global financing programs.
- Proven experience in financial planning, strategic decision-making, and senior financial management.
- Excellent communication skills.
