Job description

The Opportunity :

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Controller to join our client's growing team in Toronto. This role will be a key member of the finance leadership team, responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and driving process improvements. This is a critical role that will own the accounting function and work closely with the global team to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations.

What You Will Be Doing :

Financial Reporting :

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process for the company and its subsidiaries.
• Consolidate financial statements from three operating entities and four holding companies.
• Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with US GAAP (upcoming US GAAP conversion).
• Prepare and analyze financial reports for Private Equity stakeholders.

Audit and Compliance :

• Oversee external audit preparation and support.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
• Partner with external tax advisors to ensure tax compliance.

Management :

• Own the financial reporting function and ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial information to stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain cash flow forecasting and planning processes.
• Work with the financial planning team to understand revenue recognition and accruals during the month-end closing process.

Team Management :

• Provide oversight and direction to the accounting team in the Philippines.
• Foster a strong working relationship with the CFO, financial planning team, and other relevant stakeholders.

Technical Accounting :

• Conduct technical accounting research and provide guidance on complex accounting matters.

What We Need From You :

• CPA designated (audit training preferred).
• 2+ years of relevant experience within SaaS.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written).
• Knowledge of US GAAP is an asset.
• Experience coaching and mentoring a small team.
• System savvy, experience with NetSuite is an asset.
• Advanced Excel skills.
