Venor is proud to partner with our client, Coady Construction & Excavating Limited, in their search for a Controller. Established in 1983, Coady Construction & Excavating Ltd. specializes in heavy civil infrastructure construction and marine infrastructure applications supplying Newfoundland and Labrador’s heavy civil market.

For over 30 years CCE has been safely providing quality heavy civil services in Newfoundland and Labrador. Position Overview:
Reporting to the President, the Controller is responsible for the oversight of multi-company financial accounting. This includes ensuring the prompt delivery of management reporting, such as monthly income statements, job costings, cash flow forecasting, and business KPIs. The Controller also oversees and manages all aspects of the group’s accounting cycle and financial operations, including AP/AR, payroll, and cash flow management. In addition, the Controller is responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures, project analysis, and the administration of group medical insurance, corporate insurance, and capital asset records/accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure regulatory compliance, including the preparation and submission of HST, HAPSET returns, and annual tax compliance.
  2. Build a comprehensive year-end file for external accountants’ annual review engagements.
  3. Prepare accurate and detailed financial records.
  4. Provide valuable insights into business performance and promote sound financial management practices.

Qualifications:
As the ideal candidate, you have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field, along with a minimum of ten years accounting experience and a CPA designation. Proficiency in Sage 50, MS Office, Microsoft Excel, and GAAP is essential, as well as a high degree of organizational, communication, and managerial skills. The successful candidate will need to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines and work with all members of the team. Experience in a heavy civil construction environment is considered an asset.
