Job description

Bonnett’s Energy Corp. is seeking a qualified individual for the permanent full-time position of Controller in Grande Prairie, AB.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Controller will oversee and support financial accounting and analysis of various divisions including day-to-day and month-end processes. This position compiles monthly financial statements and assists with internal reporting, divisional budgeting and forecasting as well as quarterly reporting and supporting the implementation of new software and software updates.

The applicant must be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs and priorities of the company. Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to resolve internal and divisional employee needs/requests.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of consolidated financial statements and reports
  • Analyze and report cost variances
  • Conduct account analysis and account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
  • Support and perform transactional functions, as needed, for each aspect of accounting to ensure all financial results are accurate, complete, and timely
  • Assists with management of all accounting departments
  • Ensures compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations
  • Examining and analyzing accounting and financial records, documents, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures, and internal controls
  • Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Controller may also work closely with senior management on complex issues
  • Any other tasks as needed (i.e. entering A/P, A/R invoices, document control etc.)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation OR in an advanced level nearing completion of designation
  • 3-5 years proven experience in accounting roles, preferably with a focus on accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, budgeting, and account analysis.
  • Proficient experience with MS Office, DGP and Solver is an asset.
  • Supervisory experience is an asset
  • Strong analytical, technology, communication, and organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate financial reporting
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage numerous priorities at once and able to multi-task effectively
  • Ability to manage and work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
