Job summary

Client in the Tri-Cities region of BC seeks a senior-level Assistant Controller to lead accounting and financial operations across multiple entities. The role combines hands-on accounting with leadership oversight, including Canadian tax matters, payroll, HR, and operations support in a small-family business setting.

The ideal candidate holds a CPA designation, has multi-entity and multi-currency experience, and can operate with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• CPA designation with strong accounting and managerial experience.
• Hands-on Controller-level experience with strong operational and accounting background.
• Experience with multi-entity and multi-currency accounting (CAD, USD, EUR).
• Proven ability to work independently in a stand-alone finance function with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to wear multiple hats in a small, family-owned business.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and financial operations for operating company, properties and four holding companies.
• Manage Canadian tax matters, including income tax, SR&ED and investments, with external accounting firm on filings.
• Oversee payroll, benefits and HR, including recruitment, terminations, performance reviews and bonuses.
• Manage inventory and production operations; supervise Office Administrator, Production team and Purchaser.
• Oversee facilities management and liaise with strata management.
• Support customer-facing activities, including inside sales, RMAs, quotations and light technical support.
• Provide general hands-on operational support in a small-company environment.
• Nice to have: Basic IT knowledge (Windows server, Microsoft 365) and graphic design/Adobe experience.
• Jack of all trades: comfortable wearing multiple hats beyond traditional accounting responsibilities.

Well-rounded Assistant Controller role spanning operational accounting and corporate accounting. Hands-on position while also providing leadership and oversight.

Our client is a small, privately held industrial technology and engineering company based in the Tri-Cities, specializing in machine vision and automation solutions.

What- the Role:

How Much:

The salary for this role is commensurate with level and relevance of accounting experience and qualifications, and will range from $100,000 to $130,000 (please note to get to the top end, must have all nice-to-have qualifications and over 10 years of relevant experience)
