As we continue to expand, we are looking for a highly skilled Financial Controller to lead our financial operations and help shape the next phase of our growth.

Position Overview
Reporting directly to the President, the Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance to support business objectives. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment and brings deep expertise in oil and gas accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the finance department, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and account reconciliation.
  • Maintain and improve financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on budgets and financial performance, providing variance analysis and recommendations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and forecasts to support strategic decision-making. Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards specific to the oil and gas industry.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors as necessary.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to finance staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role within a corporate environment.
  • Industry experience with oil and gas production accounting.
  • Proficient in oil and gas financial and related software respective to the industry and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices including budgeting, account reconciliation, accounts receivable/payable management.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Exceptional communication skills to convey complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Compensation and Requirements

Annual Salary: Commensurate with experience

Additional Compensation: Annual Performance Bonus Consideration

Schedule: Monday to Friday, flexible hours within core business times.

Education: Bachelor's Degree (required)

Experience: Oil and Gas: 3 years (required)

Work Location: Fully remote with occasional in-person meetings as required.

Licence/Certification: Chartered Professional Accountant (required)
