Job summary

Shred-Tech Corporation is seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee the finance department across a multinational company with several subsidiaries. You will maintain strong internal controls, manage working capital and cash flow, and prepare monthly and annual financial statements and budgets while coordinating external audits and tax filings.

The role requires CPA designation (preferred) and 5–10 years of financial reporting/management experience in manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation preferred with leadership experience in manufacturing.

  • Strong analytical ability to identify complex accounts.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, with excellent communication.
  • Ability to interface with customers, suppliers and multiple departments.
  • Experience with MS Office; EPICOR experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee internal controls across operating companies and locations.
  • Manage AR/AP and accounting staff; ensure timely processing.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and budgets for consolidation.
  • Coordinate external audits and annual tax filings.
  • Review revenue recognition and monthly accruals; cash flow forecasting.
  • Ensure asset capitalization and depreciation are recorded.
  • Report to VP Finance; support consolidation of subsidiaries.

Job description

A hands-on position to oversee a finance department of a multi-national company with several subsidiaries. The Controller will maintain a robust system of internal controls, manage and safeguard working capital and cash flow, prepare monthly/annual financial statements and budgets and coordinate external audit and tax preparation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Reports:

  • Accounts Receivable
  • Accounts Payable
  • Accounting staff
Accounting Policies and Procedures:
  • Responsible for integrity of internal controls in all operating companies and geographical locations.
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable and Accounts payable, ensuring timely receipt and payment.
  • Oversee fixed assets capital, requests, purchases and depreciation.
  • Review revenue cutoff and accruals on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare weekly cashflow forecast.
  • Review and approve regular vendor payments in accordance with forecast and payment terms.
Financial Statements & Budgets:
  • Monthly statements and reporting of subsidiary companies to consolidation.
  • Ensure all reconciliations are prepared and reviewed in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for preparation and adjustment of reserve accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Management and departmental reporting.
External Audit & Taxes:
  • Assist VP Finance with auditors to complete audited financial statements.
  • Assist and liaise with auditors to complete annual tax returns and filings.
  • Ensure regular corporate and sales tax filings and instalments are filed and paid in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:

Preference will be given to candidates with a CPA designation and proven leadership qualities in a Manufacturing company.

Experience:

5-10 years experience of financial reporting/financial management for a multi-national company.

Specific Skill, Ability and Knowledge:
  • Analysis of complex accounts and identify areas of concern.
  • Well-organized
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deal effectively with customers and suppliers as well as internal departments including Sales, Service, Purchasing, Engineering and Manufacturing personnel.
  • Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), EPICOR experience an asset.

This opportunity is an existing role.

Salary range based on experience: $130,000 - $170,000
