Our partnered client - A Calgary-based organization with global reach is seeking a Senior Controller to join its expanding team. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned finance professional who thrives in dynamic environments and is looking to play a pivotal role in both strategic financial planning and operational execution. Reporting directly to executive leadership, this role offers significant oversight; from core financial processes to helping shape the financial infrastructure of a company undergoing rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full cycle finance operations including closing, reporting, and transaction oversight
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations across multiple provinces
  • Deliver timely and accurate monthly reporting, including variance analysis and reason
  • Oversee annual audit processes and tax submissions
  • Monitor financial performance and develop actionable insights to drive improvement
  • Manage reporting for internal stakeholders and external partners

Strategic Finance & Operations

  • Build and maintain budgeting and forecasting tools (P&L, cash flow, balance sheet)
  • Play a key role in the implementation and ongoing management of a new ERP and inventory system (Job Costing)
  • Track and report on strategic KPIs across departments to support executive decision-making
  • Develop scalable financial processes that support operational efficiency
  • Collaborate across HR, IT, insurance, and admin teams to align financial goals
  • Foster vendor relationships and ensure strong internal controls related to procurement and cost management

Requirements

  • CPA designation with a degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in financial management, ideally within a high-growth, project-based environment
  • Deep understanding of project cost accounting and profitability analysis
  • Strong experience with QuickBooks
  • Operational acumen with a track-record of process improvement and systems integration
  • Prior involvement in debt financing, financial modeling, and board-level reporting
  • Proven leadership in managing accounting teams, setting reporting standards, and ensuring quality deliverables
  • Mastery of GAAP and multi-jurisdictional compliance
  • A proactive, analytical mindset with excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams while handling sensitive information discreetly
