About the client

Based in Burnaby, our client is a well-established organization in the Automotive Services / Trade Association sector seeking an experienced Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate will be a designated CPA with over 7 years of relevant experience.

About the position

Reporting to the CEO, the controller will oversee the accounting, HR, and IT functions for multiple entities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring strong fiscal management, internal controls, and compliance.
  • Collaborating with the CEO / President on annual budgets, planning, and audits.
  • Overseeing financial systems for contracts, reporting, payroll, and funding.
  • Providing accurate, timely reports and forecasts to support business decisions.
  • Protecting organizational assets, managing investments, and maintaining banking relationships.
  • Monitoring cash flow, preparing long-term forecasts, and managing insurance renewals.
  • Ensuring all legal, tax, payroll, and employment obligations are met.
  • Maintaining and updating the organization’s risk management plan.
  • Ensuring compliance with professional and licensing requirements.
  • Participating in leadership, board, and committee meetings, and overseeing daily operations.
  • Managing IT systems, strategy, and risk management, including overseeing external IT providers and maintaining IT assets.
