Our client in Burlington, ON is actively looking for a Controller to join their team.

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, compliance, and internal controls. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage daily accounting activities while contributing to strategic financial planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including A / P, A / R, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process; monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and manage all external audit processes.
  • Maintain and improve internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
  • Manage cash flow and working capital to support operational needs.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business decision-making.
  • Implement process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff; support training and development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience; at least 3 years in a Controller or similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
