Are you ready to join the Automation Engineering team at our Sarnia refinery? We’re hiring a Control Systems Engineer who is accountable for developing, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing Advanced Process Control (APC) applications to improve refinery gross margin while supporting, or enhancing, safe, reliable unit operation.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 5-7 years of work experience in Advanced Process Control (APC) involving control technologies
  • A bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering with a Process Control specialization
  • Registered or immediately eligible for registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) or equivalent
  • Able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop, evaluate, and implement solutions
Key Accountabilities:
  • Provide timely technical support to the Operations Manager through the cross-functional team by working with the Production Engineer, Reliability Specialist, and Operations personnel to resolve issues affecting safe, reliable unit operation in their assigned area.
  • Participate in or lead HAZOPs, PHAs, and KT sessions within their assigned zone or as requested.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines (Process Systems, DCS Specialists, Process & Project design, lab, environmental, and maintenance) to solve problems and improve process and offsite units, including Alarm Management.
  • Work closely with other Automation Engineers to ensure consistency of APC implementation across the refinery.
  • Steward APC performance (uptime & quality of control performance) within their assigned zone.
  • Support APC improvement initiatives across the complex within their zone.
  • Provide front-line support for Real-Time Optimization.
Location & Other Details:
  • Work out of our Sarnia refinery in Ontario, located at 1900 St. Clair Parkway.
  • Engineering roles follow internal compensation guidelines; pay bands are generally based on years of experience and scope of work.
