Job summary

CoolIT Systems, an Ecolab Company, in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a Senior Control Systems Engineer III to lead design, development, and optimization of DLC control systems. You will mentor junior engineers and ensure integration with mechanical and software components across complex projects.

Key responsibilities include leading control system design, managing multiple projects, system integration, and documentation to meet industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years in control systems engineering with design, integration and optimization.
  • Proficiency in designing and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • PLC expertise with hardware/software from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Unitronics.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities; professional engineering designation preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Revit for P&IDs and Altium for schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead control system design for DLC products and ensure alignment with specs and standards.
  • Oversee multiple projects, manage timelines, resources, and deliverables.
  • Collaborate across mechanical and software teams for system integration.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a growth-oriented team environment.

What You’ll Do

Control Systems Engineer III you will lead the design, development, and optimization of control systems for Direct Liquid Cooling (DLC) products. This senior‑level position involves overseeing complex projects, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring the integration of control systems with mechanical and software components.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Control System Design: Spearhead the design and development of advanced control systems for DLC products, ensuring alignment with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Project Management: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, managing timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure successful project completion.
  • System Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with mechanical and software components, ensuring seamless operation.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all control system designs and implementations are thoroughly documented and comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for system optimization and implement improvements to enhance performance and reliability.
Basic Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in control systems engineering, with a focus on system design, integration, and optimization.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in designing and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • PLC Expertise: Extensive experience with PLC hardware and software from leading manufacturers (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Unitronics).
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in PLC systems (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text).
  • System Integration: Experience in integrating control systems with mechanical and software components.
  • Professional Certification: Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or similar professional credentials.
  • Advanced Tools: Proficiency in developing P&IDs using AutoCAD Revit.
  • Safety Standards: Knowledge of safety standards and regulations relevant to industrial automation.
  • Design Tools: Experience with Altium for developing electrical schematics.
  • Documentation Tools: Familiarity with AutoCAD Revit for developing P&IDs.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team of engineers.
  • Problem Solving: Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities to address complex engineering challenges.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational and time-management skills to oversee multiple projects concurrently.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and technological advancements.
