Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada is seeking a senior Control System Software Specialist to lead Siemens PLC and SCADA programming, design, and commissioning for major industrial and nuclear projects. You will guide engineering teams and coordinate with clients and suppliers to deliver robust automation solutions.

The role requires a PE license in Ontario, 15+ years of experience, and deep Siemens tools expertise. You will mentor juniors, ensure QA and regulatory compliance, and travel to project sites as

Qualifications

• Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree as recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Province of Ontario and member in good standing.
• 15+ years of relevant design, implementation, or construction support experience (experience with greenfield construction and/or the nuclear industry is an asset).
• Experience with Siemens PLC programming including Step 7, S7-SCL, S7-GRAPH, S7-Starter, SIMATIC NET, WinCC Flexible, and S7 Distributed Safety.
• Experience in Siemens SCADA programming, specifically WinCC Classic.
• Experience with Siemens PROFIBUS and PROFINET.
• Experience executing projects that are subject to import/export controls.
• PELCO experience (Endura Certified System Technician is an asset).
• Excellent organizational and effective problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites to meet corporate needs.

Overview

A Control System Software Specialist is responsible for leading complex software and control design, construction, and commissioning activities for major industrial and nuclear projects, overseeing technical documentation, guiding engineering teams, and collaborating closely with clients and suppliers to deliver high-quality solutions. This role is ideal for a candidate with extensive experience in Siemens PLC programming and Siemens SCADA programming.
