Responsibilities
- The Controls Specialist is a skilled Automation and Controls Systems Engineer responsible for process improvements, automation system integration, PLC, robotic, and HMI programming, instrumentation, calibration, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and implement automation solutions, including PLC/SCADA programming, robotic integration, and HMI development, ensuring alignment with business objectives and standards.
- Oversee automation system integration across production lines, ensuring seamless functionality and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Manage project plans for automation initiatives, ensuring timely and within-budget program launches and Kaizen projects.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance control systems and automated machinery to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis for automation failures, working with vendors and internal teams to resolve issues.
- Implement secure backup systems for automation programs and parameters.
- Design and execute calibration processes for instrumentation and automation devices.
- Lead Change Management by documenting modifications to automation programs and devices.
- Maintain technical documentation, including process control narratives, P&ID's, and I/O lists.
- Collaborate with Plant Teams, Managers, and Supervisors to resolve issues and align automation strategies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- University degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- At least 5 years of experience in automation controls, PLC programming, robotic integration, and HMI development.
- Experience with PLC systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens), SCADA, and industrial networks.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, process diagrams, and control panel drawings.
- Proficiency with Motion Control systems and robot programming (Fanuc, ABB, Siemens).
- Knowledge of servo motor controls and automation system integration.
- Skills in MySQL, MSSQL, AutoCAD, and technical report design.
- Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing CI initiatives, Kaizen projects, and automation program launches.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and standards, including IATF 16949.
- Independent and team work capability, with strong communication skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
