Job Description Summary As a global leader in life sciences research support, STEMCELL Technologies is continuing to drive innovation in the biotechnology space. We are looking for a Contracts Specialist to join our legal team! In this role you will help ensure that all contracts that STEMCELL enters into comply with applicable policies, regulations, and laws, while simultaneously protecting the company from risk. You’ll be responsible for reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and managing contractual agreements with key stakeholders and working closely with the legal team to create legally sound contracts that support our evolving business objectives. We welcome applications from internationally trained legal professionals and candidates with EU legal or contracts experience who are building their careers in Canada. This may include candidates who are currently completing the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) process or otherwise pursuing Canadian legal qualification. Candidates with a legal education or professional experience in an EU jurisdiction, combined with relevant contract management, commercial, procurement, or legal experience, are encouraged to apply. Canadian legal licensure is not required where it is not necessary to perform the responsibilities of the position.

Job Description Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the company and suppliers fulfill their contractual obligations by monitoring contract performance, identifying issues, taking timely action to resolve issues, and communicating with stakeholders to minimize risk and maximize supplier performance
  • Establish and maintain a meaningful relationship between suppliers, customers and the company’s supply chain organization through activities such as timely communication, resolution of issues, and relevant reporting enabling the successful implementation of sourcing initiatives
  • Support contract negotiations, amendments, renewals, extensions, and other contract lifecycle activities in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements
  • Review and interpret contractual terms and conditions, identify potential commercial or contractual risks, and escalation matters appropriately to legal, procurement, finance, or business stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions and business environments
Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree with 6–10 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree with 4–8 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with 2–5 years of relevant experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in contract management, contract administration, commercial management, procurement, legal operations, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a contracts, legal, commercial, procurement, or compliance role within the European Union or another international jurisdiction is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret, administer, and manage contracts and contractual obligations in a business environment.
  • Fluency in both English and French, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages, is preferred.
  • Experience working with stakeholders, suppliers, or customers across multiple jurisdictions and/or in a multicultural business environment is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills

The annual salary for this job ranges from: $83,700.00 - $125,500.00

STEMCELL determines an individual’s pay within the range based on multiple factors including experience, education, job-related skills, and equity within the team or organization. For jobs that are eligible for sales incentives, the range noted above is inclusive of target incentives; actual incentives are based on individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
