Job summary

Paladin Canada is seeking a Contracts & Procurement Manager to establish and lead the procurement function in Saskatoon. Reporting to the VP, Finance, you will build processes, manage supplier relationships, and lead contracting activities for projects and operations.

You will collaborate with senior leaders across the organization to promote effective contract management, support Indigenous procurement initiatives, and drive value across owner-managed procurement activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
  • 12+ years of progressive contracts/procurement experience in mining, energy, infrastructure or industrial sectors.
  • Experience developing and administering construction, equipment supply, and professional services contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Contracts & Procurement function, including policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Develop and execute procurement and contracting strategies for projects and operations.
  • Lead sourcing, negotiation, and award of engineering, equipment, construction, maintenance, facilities, logistics, consulting, and service contracts.
  • Build and maintain a competitive, reliable, and sustainable supply chain.
  • Develop contract management procedures, controls, and lifecycle management including amendments, change orders, and claims.
  • Oversee owner-managed procurement activities and support cost/assets management.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Project Controls, Construction, Legal, Finance, Indigenous Relations, and Operations.
  • Support MBA commitments and create opportunities for Indigenous businesses/communities.
  • Develop strategic relationships with contractors, suppliers, Indigenous businesses, and other key stakeholders.
  • Foster safety, integrity, accountability and continuous improvement.

Description

Paladin Canada is seeking an experienced Contracts & Procurement Manager to establish and lead the Contracts & Procurement function. Reporting to the VP, Finance, this is a unique opportunity to build processes, develop supplier and contractor relationships, and lead procurement and contracting activities that support both operational and project requirements.

Working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders across the organization, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing procurement and contract management practices, supporting owner-managed procurement activities, and advancing Indigenous procurement commitments. This role offers the opportunity to influence how contracts and procurement activities are managed across the organization while contributing to Paladin Canada's continued growth and success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Contracts & Procurement function, including policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Develop and execute procurement and contracting strategies that support project and operational requirements.
  • Lead the sourcing, negotiation, and award of engineering, equipment, construction, maintenance, facilities, logistics, consulting, and service contracts.
  • Build and maintain a competitive, reliable, and sustainable supply chain.
  • Develop and implement contract management procedures, controls, and processes, including contract administration, amendments, change orders, and claims management.
  • Oversee the administration and performance of major contracts throughout their lifecycle.
  • Oversee owner-managed procurement activities and support effective management of owner costs and assets.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Project Controls, Construction, Legal, Finance, Indigenous Relations, and Operations to support project and operational requirements.
  • Support Mutual Benefits Agreement (MBA) commitments and create opportunities for Indigenous businesses and communities.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with contractors, suppliers, Indigenous businesses, and other key stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of safety, integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Engineering, Construction Management, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Professional designation such as SCMP, PMP, P.Eng., MRICS, or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in contracts, procurement, and supply chain management within the mining, energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and administering construction, equipment supply, and professional services contracts.
  • Strong understanding of procurement strategy, contract negotiations, contract law, contract administration, and claims management.
  • Experience managing procurement activities through engineering, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Experience working on owner's teams for large capital projects is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Saskatchewan procurement practices and experience working with Indigenous procurement initiatives and Mutual Benefits Agreements (MBAs) is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex contracts and build strategic supplier relationships.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Saskatchewan as required.
