6/6 Full Time Teacher for the Personal Support Worker Program.

Please note:

  1. Current Secondary Contract Teachers, Occasional Teachers and External Applicants are eligible to apply to this position.

Position Overview:

This accelerated Personal Support Worker program provides adult students the opportunity to earn their PSW certification over a single semester. Limestone DSB runs two cohorts of the PSW program each year, starting in September and February. The program includes theory, lab instruction, supervised and unsupervised placements with PSW preceptors in Long Term Care and Community settings. The teacher is responsible for curriculum delivery, supervising placements, and ensuring students meet PSW certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering secondary credits such as TPJ 3C, TPJ 4C, TOJ 4C, and Co-Op credits related to placements.
  • Ensuring students acquire skills and knowledge per CESBA requirements for PSW programs.
  • Preparing students for and proctoring the CESBA Provincial PSW Certification exam.
  • Supporting organization of student placements and resolving issues.
  • Monitoring students during placements and maintaining communication with students and preceptors.
  • Participating in candidate vetting for placements.
  • Participating in the Quality Assurance process for the PSW Program.
  • Implementing Individual Education Plans for student access.
  • Maintaining communication with program partners and reporting student achievement.
