Keyano College is seeking casual English Instructors to teach foundational and academic courses. Candidates should possess at least a Master's degree in English or related field, with strong classroom management skills. This position emphasizes teaching excellence and student engagement within a diverse academic community.
The Opportunity
The Academic Upgrading department at Keyano College is currently seeking Instructors to teach English courses. This position is a casual contract position on an as needed basis. Applicants must feel comfortable working in a classroom with adults of all abilities and backgrounds.
The Academic Upgrading instructors deliver quality classes and share subject matter expertise with students within the curriculum and course outline. The instructors also enter attendance and grade and perform other duties related to a teaching environment.
Note: this is not a remote or hybrid work opportunity, you will be required to work on campus and relocate to Fort McMurray, AB. Preference will be given to candidates currently living in Fort McMurray.
Potential Courses
Foundational English Language – AFL 100 Fall and Winter
Through the integration of the six language arts: reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing, and representing, this course prepares students for reading and writing in academic settings. The course builds students’ spoken and written vocabulary; writing in context (grammar and spelling); critical reading, comprehension, and research skills. Students are exposed to a variety of print and oral texts as well as visual media.
English for Academic Purposes – EAP 100/200 Fall and EAP 200/300 Winter
The EAP program will provide learners English language instruction for pursuing further academic study in Canadian post-secondary institutions. The focus will be on strengthening reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, and developing research and academic study skills.
