Job summary

A major oil and gas company is seeking a Contract Maintenance & Reliability Engineer/E.I.T for a 10-month contract in Lloydminster, AB. This role focuses on asset integrity and maintenance optimization for Thermal and Conventional Heavy Oil operations. The ideal candidate will lead criticality analysis, develop maintenance programs, and optimize preventive maintenance strategies, contributing to the overall reliability and efficiency of operations.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or EIT registered with APEGS.
  • Engineering and/or Maintenance & Reliability experience in Oil & Gas.

Job description

One of our clients, a major oil and gas company, has tasked us with finding aContract Maintenance & Reliability Engineer/E.I.Tto join their team inLloydminster, ABfor a10-month contract. This role is critical in supporting asset integrity, reliability, and maintenance optimization initiatives for their Thermal and Conventional Heavy Oil (CHO) operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or support Criticality Analysis for equipment and assist in gap closure efforts.
  • Review project drawings (MOC - Management of Change Projects) and ensure SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) Module data aligns with company standards.
  • Develop and maintain equipment hierarchy and asset data for small and large projects.
  • Support Process Safety Critical Equipment (SCE) identification and develop maintenance programs in line with Performance Standards.
  • Apply Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodologies to create risk-based maintenance strategies for new and existing facilities.
  • Analyze maintenance strategies and KPIs to identify improvement opportunities and drive gap closure.
  • Assist in optimizing Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs and Bill of Materials (BOM) development, including critical spare parts identification.
  • Support maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution improvements.
  • Contribute to SAP PM training materials and ensure accurate master data for KPI reporting.
  • Help develop and standardize maintenance, reliability, and turnaround processes for Canadian Thermal & CHO assets.

  • Bill of Materials (BOM) with recommended inventory levels

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or EIT registered with APEGS.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred); other disciplines considered with relevant experience.
  • Engineering and/or Maintenance & Reliability experience in Oil & Gas.
  • Experience in upstream Thermal (SAGD) facilities is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of SAP PM Module, RCM, and Process Safety standards is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Safety-focused mindset with familiarity in oil & gas safe work practices.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (abstract required for pre-employment screening).
