Job Summary

Reporting to the General Corporate Counsel, this position works closely with the Contracts team to support our various lines of business. This position is responsible for assisting with case law and litigation research, conducting quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and providing high quality client support. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to balance competing priorities to achieve accurate and consistent work output while ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely fashion. A professional demeanor and attitude are key, as the successful candidate will be expected to communicate and work with all levels of management, suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Review, edit and manage Non-Disclosure Agreements
  • Conduct contractual review of construction contracts for customers and suppliers
  • Conduct contractual negotiations with customers and suppliers
  • Manage litigation files
  • Review and edit credit applications
  • Manage contractual deadlines and notice requirements and contractual requirements
  • Coordinating with outside counsel through the General Counsel
  • Ability to work in a deadline driven environment
  • Ability to manage high volume of workload
  • Enhance knowledge in the specialty area of Construction Law

Technical Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree; licensed to practice law in New Brunswick or willing to do get licensed here within a short time period
  • Minimum of 4 years of post-call experience preferably in commercial law
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., CCDC, AIA, bespoke agreements
  • Experience within construction law would be considered a strong asset
