Job description

Seeking 10-12 Geologists for various positions (Junior to Senior) to join our team for ongoing projects in Canada.

Reporting to Axiom’s Senior Management, you will provide supervisory, frontline office, and remote field support for exploration, surveying, and prospecting projects.

Positions of consideration are:

  • Project Managers
  • Soil Samplers
  • Field Technicians
  • Field Geologists and Mapping

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and assist in the implementation of various geological activities at both the deposit scale and regional scale, including project planning, targeting, sampling programs, geological mapping programs, and drilling programs.
  • Follow instructions as given.
  • Provide daily onsite planning, oversight, coordination, and QAQC through informed technical liaison.
  • Conduct and advise junior staff on technical job-specific protocols in the field.
  • Perform and instruct methods of interpretation of geological information.
  • Senior Geologists must compile and provide concise scheduling, costing, and technical information for Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Final Reporting.
  • Integrate geoscience information to track and inform program execution, compliance, and optimization.
  • Monitor and verify daily data collection and data compilation/data entry for geological, geophysical, and geochemical datasets.
  • Other duties as required to ensure daily project success for the client.
  • Adhere to environmental and safety protocols.

Requirements:

  • Minimum education level: B.Sc. in Geology.
  • Junior: 0-3 years of experience; proficient with Microsoft products.
  • Intermediate: 3-5 years of experience; able to understand and research projects in advance; self-starter; proficient with report writing; QGIS is an asset.
  • Senior: 5-12 years of exploration geology experience with mineral exploration and/or mining; working knowledge of structural geology, geochemistry, and geophysics.
  • Ability to interact successfully with all levels of staff, contractors, and vendors.
  • Work outdoors with flexible working hours (up to 11 hours per day).
  • Commitment to Health and Safety in the workplace.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Background in GIS and modelling software such as QGIS, ArcGIS, MXDeposit, or Leapfrog is an asset.
  • Previous diamond drilling and RC drilling Project Management experience.
  • Multiple commodity experience is an asset.
  • Registered or eligible for registration with APEGS / APEGA / APEGM / EGBC / PGO.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and strong analytical/organizational skills are fundamental.
  • Professionally fluent in written and spoken English.
  • In good physical condition and willing to comply with all project health and safety requirements, including any site-specific certifications and/or drug testing.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, and push 50 lbs.
  • Ability to hike up to 10 km in rugged terrain.
  • Collaboration skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships in culturally diverse environments.
  • Successful completion of a recognized First Aid training safety course; certification must be current and not due to expire for the anticipated duration of the project.
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
