Job summary

Bombardier Aerospace in Dorval, QC is seeking engineers for Flight Control Laws design, development and analysis for Fly-by-Wire aircraft on a contract basis. The CLaws team handles design, testing and certification to meet handling quality, performance and structural load requirements with protections.

Role requires aerospace background and experience in model-based CLaws, standards like DO-178B and ARP 4754, and MATLAB/Simulink proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or higher degree in Aerospace Engineering.
  • Understanding of testing methods for model-based CLaws.
  • Familiarity with DO-178B (or more recent) standards and ARP 4754.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Proficiency in programming MATLAB scripts.
  • Understanding of C/C++ programming.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Write requirements for existing experimental model-based CLaws to meet functional requirements and in accordance with DO-178B and SAE ARP 4754.
  • Perform CLaws validation and verification (V&V) for a new experimental primary flight computer.
  • If needed, update the CLaws design model and the corresponding assessment tools using MATLAB and C++ programming.

The CLaws team is responsible for the design, development, testing and certification of the Fly‑by‑Wire (FBW) flight control laws for the next generation Bombardier aircraft, currently including the Global 7000/8000 business jet and the Ecojet Blended Wing Body (BWB) experimental aircraft. The CLaws provide a means to manage the aircraft response to pilot inputs, reduce pilot workload and meet handling quality, performance, structural load requirements, and provide additional flight‑ and structural‑envelope protections.

  • Write requirements for existing experimental model‑based CLaws to meet functional requirements and in accordance with DO‑178B and SAE ARP 4754.

How to thrive in this role?


  • Bachelor or higher degree in Aerospace Engineering.

  • Understanding of testing methods for model‑based CLaws.

  • Familiarity with DO‑178B (or more recent) standards and system requirements verification and validation methods (ARP 4754).

  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink.

  • Proficiency in programming MATLAB scripts.

Preference will be given to applicants with commercial aircraft experience and additional programming skills such as C++.
