Job description

Hourly: $52.41-$114.65/hour; Per Three Credit Course: $7,947; Actual salary or hourly rate will be based on the number of credits and term of appointment according to the Collective Agreement.

The Department of Child and Youth Care – in the Faculty of Applied Community Studies at Douglas College – is seeking a contract faculty to teach CYC courses. The Child and Youth Care Department currently offers a part time online Diploma, an on-campus 2-year Child and Youth Care Diploma and a 4-year Bachelor of Child and Youth Care degree.

As a faculty member, you will be required to instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in child and youth care courses. You will plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources, and maintain high quality learner-centred instruction. A faculty member is also required to work collaboratively with all CYC Department members. Involvement in Department and Faculty initiatives is encouraged.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Masters degree (Doctorate preferred) in Child and Youth Care or in a closely related field.
  • Applicants should have experience teaching in educational settings (preferably post-secondary) or community settings (e.g. training, facilitating educational groups, etc.)
  • Preferred candidate will have experience engaging in relational work with children, youth, and/or families.
  • Interest and/or proficiency in technology using an online-based teaching & learning platform.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively in a team setting.
