Qualifications

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada.
  • Diploma or Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Agrology, Biology, or related discipline.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with a recognized environmental association (P.Ag., R.T.Ag., P.Biol.).
  • Minimum 2 years of environmental experience supporting oil and gas operations, with field experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental stewardship initiatives and contaminated sites management programs.
  • Provide environmental guidance to field operations and development teams.
  • Manage environmental monitoring programs (soil, groundwater, surface water, vegetation, air).
  • Coordinate and support environmental incident response activities (spills, releases, regulatory reporting).
  • Lead spill remediation projects from initial response through regulatory closure.
  • Support field construction with environmental planning, regulatory notifications, and compliance guidance.
  • Coordinate environmental contractors and technical specialists to ensure program quality.
  • Maintain accurate environmental records and support regulatory inspections and reporting requirements.
  • Foster positive working relationships with regulators, contractors, and landowners.

Job description

Location: Lloydminster, SK/AB

Hrs of Work: 40 hrs/wk

Rate of Pay: $50-65/hr

About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, Environmental Operations, the Contract Environmental Operations Advisor will support the environmental compliance requirements of Upstream operations in the Lloydminster region. The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Development, and Environmental teams to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with corporate environmental standards.

As the environmental subject matter expert for assigned assets, this role will provide technical guidance, field support, and regulatory expertise while managing environmental monitoring, remediation, and incident response activities.

This is a temporary contract opportunity supporting a maternity leave coverage requirement. The position is based in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan/Alberta, and the successful candidate will be expected to reside within commuting distance of the work location.

Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based with regular field exposure. The successful candidate will be required to conduct field site visits, attend operational locations, and participate in activities requiring moderate physical effort and travel throughout the operating area.

What You'll Do
  • Support environmental stewardship initiatives and the progression of contaminated sites management programs.
  • Provide environmental guidance and support to field operations and development teams.
  • Manage environmental monitoring programs, including soil, groundwater, surface water, vegetation, and air monitoring activities.
  • Coordinate and support environmental incident response activities, including spills, releases, non-routine flaring events, and associated regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Lead spill remediation projects from initial response through regulatory closure.
  • Support field construction and development activities by providing environmental planning, regulatory notifications, hydrostatic test notifications, and compliance guidance.
  • Coordinate environmental contractors and technical specialists to ensure quality execution of environmental programs.
  • Maintain accurate environmental records and documentation while supporting regulatory inspections, audits, and reporting requirements.
  • Foster positive working relationships with internal stakeholders, regulators, contractors, and landowners as required.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada.
  • A Diploma or Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Agrology, Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Registration, or eligibility for registration, with a recognized professional association such as P.Ag., R.T.Ag., P.Biol., or equivalent environmental designation.
  • Minimum 2 years of environmental experience supporting oil and gas operations, with direct field experience preferred.
  • Experience managing environmental incidents, remediation programs, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Strong understanding of Saskatchewan and/or Alberta environmental regulations and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities in a dynamic operating environment.

Additional Requirements
