Description :

The Contract Cost Control Analyst is responsible for maintaining the Project cost information database to track Project Cost Performance against budget, committed, and incurred costs. The position will also forecast baselines and report results to Management. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing a standard project execution process aligned with the Project Delivery Model (PDM) and the Client Operational Integrity Management System (COIMS). This role involves working with third-party contractors (engineering companies, vendors, contractors) and internal clients, requiring strong customer service and communication skills to meet the needs of project engineers and leadership.

Throughout the project lifecycle, the Contract Cost Control Analyst liaises with stakeholders such as Project Planner, Portfolio Reporting, Project Engineering, Technical Engineering teams, Procurement, Finance, Construction and Commissioning Management, external EPC contractors, and external construction contractors. The role requires understanding and communicating the full project scope. The analyst will support department initiatives aimed at continuous improvement, standardization, and technological advancement.

Responsibilities :

  • Facilitate review meetings with internal departments to gather and review project cost and progress information.
  • Review and update cost reports and spend profiles to ensure alignment with budgets.
  • Define and finalize Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) in accordance with coding standards.
  • Develop and implement cost control plans, control documents, templates, and training materials.
  • Prepare and submit AFE requests for funding approval, and conduct follow-ups.
  • Define and apply cost control metrics to projects.
  • Monitor and control costs, flag issues, and report variances.
  • Assist Project Engineers with cost forecasts and management across project phases.
  • Maintain cost control reports and provide monthly updates on funding requirements.
  • Support initiatives related to reporting, process alignment, accruals, and long-range planning.
  • Support finance functions like month-end, forecasting, and LRP development.
  • Provide general support to other departments as needed.
  • Assist in annual budget planning and Opportunity Management.

Qualifications :

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or project management preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in cost control or operating costs management.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in energy industry projects.
  • Proficient in SAP and MS Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power BI.
  • Experience with budget forecasting, cost tracking, accruals, invoicing for offshore developments.
  • Ability to develop and facilitate cost control processes with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and change positively.
  • Degree in Business Commerce, CPA, or engineering designation are assets.

Work Schedule : M-F, 40 hours / week.

Overtime : Subject to manager approval and T4 status.
