Position Overview

The Transportation discipline at RVA is seeking a Contract Administrator to oversee the construction of major transportation infrastructure projects.

Duties:
  1. Provide general administration during construction, including approval of alternatives in materials and procedures, review and approval of shop drawings.
  2. Maintain and update tracking spreadsheets for change directives, change orders, payment certificates, construction progress, and final costs.
  3. Review and comment on contractors’ schedules.
  4. Conduct random field checks of major contract items to verify payment quantities and investigate discrepancies during audits.
  5. Review, negotiate, and recommend on contractor claims for extra work.
  6. Prepare and process monthly progress estimates.
  7. Oversee construction quality to ensure standards are met.
  8. Review contractor traffic control plans per OTM Book 7.
  9. Coordinate, chair, and document construction progress meetings.
  10. Review contractor information requests and respond accordingly.
  11. Administer quality assurance, including coordination with sub-consultants for material testing.
  12. Maintain regular communication with the client regarding project status and issues.
  13. Coordinate and direct site representatives.
Qualifications:
  1. University degree or 3-year college diploma in Civil Engineering.
  2. Membership in PEO/OACETT is an asset.
  3. Minimum 5 years’ experience in transportation projects as a Contract Administrator for projects over $25 million.
  4. Experience supervising site representatives.
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  6. Proficiency in Word and Excel.
  7. Valid G license and reliable vehicle.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills for positive relationships with team, clients, and contractors.
  9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  10. Other duties as assigned related to the position.
