Job description

On behalf of our very valued client, Aplin is recruiting for anAccounting Assistantto join their fun and talented team here in Saskatoon, SK.

Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate will:

  • possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and have the desire and ability to improve processes both upstream and downstream of all accounting functions
  • Exhibit skills in coaching, training, and change management combined with proven knowledge of complex transactions.
  • be a “go-to” person with a culmination of knowledge and expertise in processes essential for accounts payable and receivables efficiency and accuracy. As such, the successful candidate must be approachable, flexible, and able to prioritize multiple requests and workload.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions of varying complexity, partnering with colleagues within and outside the finance team to resolve issues.
  • Identify and implement solutions to prevent problems from recurring and/or improve the overall efficiency of end-to-end transactions.
  • Develop process expertise and provide training and coaching to others.
  • Assist the Controller with various requests as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable and receivable, and accounting-related activities
  • Ability to execute timely and accurate manner with strong mathematical skills
  • Proficiency with Excel/Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement end-to-end process improvements
  • Ability to effectively work with colleagues within and outside finance
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide excellent customer service

Other Desired Skills/Abilities:

  • Bookkeeping or Accounting Diploma
  • Knowledge of Canadian taxes – GST/PST/ HST/QST
  • Experience in the hospitality industry
