Continuous Improvement Specialist

Position Summary

This position is located in Windsor, Ontario, one of two sites located in Canada offering softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries. We have a broad range of integrated formulation, manufacturing, analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.

Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, the Continuous Improvement Specialist will be instrumental in driving improvements across Safety, Service, Quality, Cost, and Speed, while supporting sustainability goals and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Continuous Improvement Specialist will be Green Belt certified and possess a strong background in Lean methodologies and operational excellence.

Shifts: Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM-4:30 PM or 8:30 AM-5:00 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch

This position is 100% on-site at the Windsor site.

The Role:

  • Utilize tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and TPM to lead improvement projects that enhance operational performance.

  • Collaborate with training teams to support operator development, reduce changeover times, and improve overall equipment efficiency.

  • Provide CI support to cross-functional teams for the implementation of new equipment and process improvements.

  • Deliver measurable savings through the execution of CI projects aligned with site goals.

  • Establish and conduct regular 5S audits to ensure compliance and drive behavioural change across departments.

  • Enhance equipment reliability by identifying proactive maintenance activities and promoting a culture of equipment care.

  • Lead initiatives that contribute to the sustainability goals of the Ontario sites, including energy and waste reduction.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Engineering or Applied Sciences is preferred), Six Sigma Green Belt certification is required.

  • Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience as a technical resource in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the pharmaceutical, automotive or other regulated industries is required.

  • Strong working knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, specifically the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) and DMAIC (Define-Measure-Analyse-Improve-Control) frameworks, with demonstrated application in process optimization and problem-solving initiatives.

  • Proven ability to coordinate and lead projects successfully, delivering results on time, within scope and budget, while managing shifting priorities and multiple concurrent initiatives.

  • Skilled in building trust, influencing stakeholders, and fostering effective collaboration across all levels of the organization.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a self-motivated approach to working independently, taking initiative, and driving tasks to completion with minimal supervision.

  • Currently Catalent does not participate in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP).

  • Candidates with non-Canadian credentials must provide an evaluation confirming the Canadian equivalency of the credentials as determined by the Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada (ACESC) such as WES.

  • The employee's role frequently involves sitting and utilizing hands and fingers for tasks such as handling, feeling, and keyboard manipulation, necessitating manual dexterity.

  • Occasionally, the position requires standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, alongside close vision capabilities and potential exposure to chemicals, human blood-borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.
