Legrandhas an exciting opportunity for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join the Data, Power & Control Division inReno, NV. This role will report to the Operational Excellence Manager. This position is responsible for supporting lean transformation and daily management initiatives by ensuring strategies are implemented, and principles/practices/tools are incorporated in the culture and processes under transformation.This position implements and supports actions that bring about improvements which may include, but are not limited to productivity, safety, customer value proposition, quality, delivery, cycle, growth, margin expansion, and inventory.

What Will You Do?

To support the organization in implementing lean transformation and daily management across the facility including:

  • Implementing tactical strategies to achieve the desired vision
  • Executing against long and short-term objectives to support the Plant’s KPIs and goals
  • Working with necessary site personnel to identify, address, and eliminate process-related obstacles
  • Assisting in the change systems/processes as required in support of the lean initiatives
  • Utilize value stream mapping techniques to design optimal information, material, and flow methodology
  • Support engineered labor standards development via MOST and associated maintenance

To act as a change agent to bring improvements to the overall plant through active support, facilitation, and leadership of Kaizen events; includes:

  • Coaching and following up on pre-work and post-work standards
  • Participate in co-facilitating or facilitating events, projects, and “just do it”
  • Participate in Gemba walks and coaching employees on continuous improvement tools
  • Help update and maintain visual performance tools, including tier boards
  • Creating and implementing standard work while teaching/coaching leaders to do the same

To support activities needed to incorporate lean transformation and daily management into the Plant culture:

  • Assisting in identifying ongoing training needs
  • Drive Lean culture and behaviors by coaching employees and following the Legrand Way
  • Perform the Legrand Way RADAR to identify focus areas to improve in lean culture
  • Coach and advocate for the Legrand Values to all employees

Track improvements made to ensure that changes are effective and sustainable:

  • Audit the areas after improvements are implemented
  • Monitor and report on key metrics
  • Continually update labor standards / make spans
  • Provide regular updates to leadership
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of experience supporting Lean/CI activities in industrial manufacturing
  • Experience in a world-class lean environment in a preferred
  • An operations or Engineering background is preferred.
  • Experience developing and maintaining engineered labor standards utilizing a predetermined motion time system is preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or related technical field.
  • Knowledge of basic lean concepts and continuous improvement tools

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must possess strong written and oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences
  • Ability to effectively facilitate activities and discussions using a defined process
  • Ability to write reports, general business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to create standard work document
  • Must be a self-motivated learner
  • Ability to energize and motivate teams
  • Facilitate change from the position of an influencer
  • Ability to lead without direct authority
  • Capability to recognize conflict and take action within the scope of the role
  • Ability to define problem areas, collect data, and establish facts
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical processes
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced and changing work environment
  • Strong capability with personal computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

This position may involve exposure to manufacturing areas requiring personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, ESD protection, and composite-toe shoes. The work environment is fast-paced, with shifting priorities. Employees are expected to multitask and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

The role requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, handling tools, reaching, climbing stairs/ladder, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds (rarely up to 40 pounds). Specific vision abilities, including close and distance vision, color vision, and depth perception, are necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
